Gimme A Freakin' Break

Wow, what a deal.

$99 round trip to Glasgow! Unbelievable!

Yes, unbelievable. And untrue.

Because underneath, in print too small to read - or photograph, apparently - "Plus $517 in taxes!" (I added the exclamation mark.) Are you kidding me?

It'd be one thing to advertize $517, plus $99 in taxes. But this is beyond the pale. Whatever that means.

How come that isn't false, or at best, misleading, advertizing? If the big, bad oil companies tried that....

Well, in fact, gasoline is one of the only products sold that includes all taxes in the posted price. And that price is always posted high and large for all to see.

How dumb is that? Dumb like a fox.

Excuse me? I believe you have been ramshackled more than you think? I don't see anywhere that says "return". These days airlines just post one way fares - - like your never coming back. (Tango fare anyone?) They don't want you to see taxes cause you might question the cost of NAV CANADA AND THE GTAA. The airlines sure aren't making the money compared to the money grubbing Landlords of air terminals. Of course, they are ALL not for profit, which means they are likely mis run and over staffed. Perhaps, Jimmy Olson could do a special report on a future blog as to the viability of the new Toronto terminal. Compare past capacity to the existing capacity against the $4.5 B they have spent to deliver it. Nice airport but the tax to pass through hits you right where it hurts. Does anybody remember the $10 user fee they used to collect at the security check? No - - caused people bitched and now they hide it in the cost of your ticket. It seems your point is well made. We blame the airline and the oil companies for the cost of their services, when the government agencies reap more benefit and face less scrutiny and opposition. Excellent point Jimmy, we are getting screwed...and not in a good way.
