Interesting juxtaposition of two side by side articles on this website.
The first article was about former hockey coach and commentator Don Cherry's birthday.
The following article was about the singer of the US national anthem at Saturday's NHL All-star game - with a long history of anti-Israeli posts - wearing a pro-Palestinian outfit.
The juxtaposition part is that one gets fired for saying "you people" (referring to recent immigrants refusing to buy poppies for Remembrance Day) and the other gets to showcase her anti-semitism (just this December posting “if you’re a Zionist, feel free to stay your ass at home.”) on the NHL's All-Star game without consequence.
In fact, quite the opposite - paid handsomely for performing.
The game was on Saturday and the article said the NHL has still not commented on how they approved this.
But B'nai Brith and multiple other Jewish organizations certainly did.
Small irony is that the NHL Commissioner, Gary Bettman, is Jewish. Wonder if he was supposed to "stay his ass at home"?
