A Day That Will Live In Maple Leaf Infamy
34 years ago today the Toronto Maple Leafs traded Tom Kurvers to the Vancouver Canucks.
That in itself doesn't seem particularly memorable, but it was the culmination of a horrible deal the Leafs made three years earlier when they traded their first round pick in 1989 to the New Jersey Devils for Kurvers, who turned out to be a complete bust (I'm sure he was a nice guy).
At one point the Leafs are doing so poorly that season that their first round pick could have been the #1 pick overall - landing the Devils Eric Lindros.
They even failed to do a complete tank job right and instead gave up the #3 overall pick. This was even worse, as the Devils selected future Hall of Famer Scott Niedermayer!
Don't just believe me.....

Very Appropriate
Hurricane Erin alerts have been issued for:
- Cape Lookout and
- Duck
Maybe these aren't the first hurricane alerts these places have had.

See This Guy?
Pretty sure I'd be walking the other way.
Maybe not. Looks like he is now going to wade out and meet the shark.
"Wait here. Gonna give him a whupping."

Okay......
That's the last time you piddle on the floor, Mr. Fluff!
Okay, so the zoo is listing guinea pigs, rabbits and chickens as possible donations. After being euthanized, the animals will be used as fodder, the zoo said.
No mention of dogs or cats, but hey........

History In A Can
Was up in beautiful Grand Bend Ontario on the shores of Lake Huron and enjoyed a beer from a local craft brewery, The Torched Brewery.
But I was interested in the origins of the name, Crooked Waters.
If you are, too, fear not, gentle readers, read on.
The Ausable River used to flow north (#1) then made a 270° bend - some said a grand bend - and then flowed southwest to empty into Lake Huron at Port Franks.
Another picture of the watershed.
But enough of that, back to the beer.
So when the beer can is properly viewed...
...you can see the green line is actually the Ausable River, flowing to the right (north) and then makes a grand bend to flow southeast.
And that's where they plunked the village of Grand Bend.
Then between 1873 & 1875 a channel was dug to allow the river to flow directly into Lake Huron.
And the Ausable River flows directly into Lake Huron.
And I thought beer cans were just for drinking beer, not lernin' history, too.

Are You Sitting Down?
Any idea who this buffed bod belongs to?
I'll give you one hint (and this is the sitting down part).
That's right.
If he can do it then, yikes, the rest of us have no excuses......
They said he quipped on Instagram as he shared different photos from the shoot.
"Some celebs use Ozempic, some use private chefs, others use personal trainers. I did all three," he wrote.
"Debuting my new character: Middle aged man who replaced beer with protein shakes."
Damn, I knew there was a catch.
Of course, long before Borat, I loved him as Ali G.

Who Will Be First?
I'm guessing Dad.
Or Grampa if he's still around.
And I hope I die in my sleep, like my Grampa.
Not like the terrified passengers in his car!
Ba da boom!
