If I was smart I would have taken a picture of the older building, on the right, when it was all by its lonesome.

Before its neighbour barged in.

Boy those two buildings are clmose.

"Honey?  Didn't we used to have a window in the living room?"

"Oh yeah. They came in and bricked that up the other day."

You can barely slide a piece of paper between those two.

Well, I guess the motto is, "No view is safe."

A Days Inn and a Super 8.  [I won't say which one I booked.]

They aren't owned by the some people.

But not a bad way to up occupancy rates.

Different Story

Now the next place I stayed was supposed to be a Ramada.

But when I got to the address, it wasn't a Ramada.  But the Magnuson Hotel had a reservation for me.

I said, "Did this used to be a Ramada?"

He said, "...Yeah."

I said, "It still says Ramada on-line.

He said, "...Yeah."

So rather than sharing a hotel like Days Inn/Super 8 and changing all the signs, all this requires is a few plastic labels over the phone!

Ingenious!


My only improvement suggestion would be to go one step farther, and change this old sign....

Healing Powers!

As I watch the Handicapped parking spots all fill - full of disabled, downtrodden, despondent people - an amazing transformation occurs.

As they lug their chairs and umbrellas to the beach, they become - miraculously - cured!  Laughing, joking, carrying large coolers and pulling baby strollers.  They virtually skip down the road.

I had only heard of this effect before and was skeptical, but now truly believe; this shows the great healing power of the sand and sun.

Oh happy days!

Even the outdoor showers are spotless.

Little Bungalow Update

Further to Tuesday's post, the little bungalow (on that big lot) will be replaced by......

Three huge 3 & 4 bedroom behemoths.

With two car garages and See-ment ponds!

Get ready to get chummy with your neighbours.............

How Lazy Are You.....

...If You Need A Drive-Through Laundry

 

They even have valet and delivery services.

So if you are even too lazy to throw your dirty laundry through your car window, they'll come and pick it up.

Hmmm...I guess this could really test my degrees of lazitude......

I think there's some misleading advertising going on there.

And after I paid the $20 cover charge, too!

Now as much as I might like Joan - and like to support local business - don't think I'm going to be sampling her homemade mountain rum any time soon.

And as we come down that mountain, I'm hoping the driver of our bus didn't sample any either.

Because, as they say, it's always fun til a tree falls on your bus.

I'm not sure if the local board of trade sponsored this (or Joan "It's really good rum!") but glad we saw this after coming down the mountain.

While We Were Gone......

....others were busy ham, ham, hammering.

This is a pic of the site of that little bungalow that got the rude knock-knock a while back.

Now the lot doesn't look that big - at least the part the house was on.

But these are huge lots, as here's an earlier picture of the cleared lot. 

The house was only on one tiny corner of it, what a waste of space!

Now this little guy on the left should not be getting too smug, let me tell you.......

Where else but in the Land Of The Free are you going to find those big bottles of healing wine right next to the First Aid and Vitamins - and Itch Relief?

I guess it does scratch an itch for some people.

And, of course, no self respecting Health Section could consider itself complete without a large supply of the Amber Nectar.
