I Love Pink, Too!
Went to a Yankee game last week while away on a trip.
I have to go there more often! Poor girl had trouble all day getting her bushy blonde pony tail to fit just right under her cap.
And originally she had on a bulky, blue t-shirt. But it was so darn hot that she had to switch to something more....uhhh....appropriate.
Her boyfriend is clearly made out of steel, as all her hard work is obviously lost on him.
But not everyone!
My favourite!
Loud, annoying seven year olds monopolizing everything.
I was pissed at first until I realized they weren't in the beer line. The cute little darlings....
Hey, I didn't know there was also a Yankee's woman's team. Maybe Pinky is part of it.
Apparently I didn't watch much of the game.
Where else could this sign really be but Yankee Stadium?
And we did exit to River Ave. and 161 St.
Into traffic mayhem!
This shot is tame. But moments before - while I had my hands covering my eyes and not taking pictures - there were five vehicles, including one city bus - with horn blaring - all trying to fit in this one lane. But my buddy held his ground.
And you may be also able to see hand prints on the hood, from where moments before, as we were trying to leave the parking lot, many irate New Yorkers slammed their hands down hard on that hood as he was gently nudging them out of the way.
What a bunch of hot heads.
Then back across the bridge to New Jersey and calmness returned.
Extreme calmness....
Hmmmmm.....I wonder what Pinky is doing?

Not Nice To Fool Mother Nature
As I was reading my book - and it is a very good book, for those of a certain age - the floursecent pink and yellows on the cover tricked several bees into trying to pollinate it.
With abdomins throbbing - okay, I'm no bee expert - they would walk up and down the cover, doing their best to do their best.
I was getting worried that these frustrated bees might take out their angst on the nearest thing they could find.
Which - based on the direction this guy is flying - would be.....me.
But I got lucky.....

Oh Yeah, It's Pride Weekend...
On a hot day, what could be better than putting an ice cold....
Never mind.....
These guys - one apparently channeling Freddy Mercury - are jumping the gun a bit as the Pride Parada is not til Sunday.
Practice makes perfect, I guess.
Uhhhh...keep practicing....
Last night, however, was the Trans March or something-or-other. Kind of hard to tell.
Uhhhh, yeah. Kinda hard to tell.
And Saturday is the Dyke Hike. But now they call it - I can't believe they are becoming politically correct - The Dyke March.
Also representing people in the LGBTTIQQ2SA communities.
LGBTTIQQ2SA. It just rolls off your tongue. Looks like it covers just about everybody.
Hey, how come there's no UC in there anywhere!?

Balls This Big
Out for some dinner the other night, this little guy showed no fear, walking right up to my bun bowl and helping himself.
And there we are. Just inches from me.
Who cares if I was still thinking of having another bite. Snooze, you lose.
Hey? What are you looking at pal? I'm busy here.
Now it didn't take long for word to get out on the bird wire that soup's on.
"You again. Do you have to watch everything I eat?"
Once the waiter decided I'd had enough fun and removed the bread ('"Ahem, you are done with the bread, sir?") the fellows kept coming around.
One sat on the table, looking around. I pointed out a bread crumb to him and he hopped right up to my finger. Ate the bread crumb and then thought about my finger. Took a wave at it, then flew away.
Best part was we were leaving, the kid at the next table (yellow t-shirt in last two pics) also wanted to get in on the fun. He started throwing lots of bun bits around.
The waiter came right up to his father and said "Please do not feed the birds, sir."
Gotta be smooth, kid.
At least that's what I'm always told......

Way To Go, Tara!
My friends' daughter, Tara Bourque, successfully underwent a double lung transplant this spring. Her recovery has been nothing short of tremendous.
Now, rather than cavorting with Ellen DeGeneres like another recent, Canadian double lung transplant recipient, Tara has been hard at work.
As part of awareness campaign for organ donations, she was invited, as part of the Make A Wish Foundation, to "Open" the Toronto Stock Exchange yesterday.
She is not the six year old, blond haired boy pushing the button. But the smiling brunette to his right.
And some how, but not surprizlingly, her old man muscled his way into the proceedings, standing between them.
She has also been busy...well....hey, everybody's got to take a break once in a while. [Very cool sunglasses, Tara.]
Again, her old man tries to steal the show in his "look at me" day glow orange t-shirt. How does Nancy let him out dressed like this?
Next week, Team Tara will be "going over the edge" to rappel down the side of Toronto's City Hall. Yikes!
I bet Dayglow Boy won't be so fast to butt in on this event.
See Rope For Hope for more information. Or if you want to sponsor Team Tara.
Anyway, congrats, Tara, and all the best in your continued recovery!

Oh Oh
I don't like this guy's chances of survival, considering all the cranes currently blotting the Toronto skyline.
I don't see a little Heritage plaque either......

Lunatics Running The Asylum
Hoo boy, those kooks on Toronto City Council have outdone themselves this time.
Mayor Rob Ford had an agenda item to ban the 5-cent plastic bag fee. Which council did.
However, they took it one, large step further.
Without study, without review, without a legal opinion or without it being on the agenda, the kooks decided to stick it to Rob Ford - and the rest of the city of Toronto - and voted to outright ban all single use plastic bags.
The original 5-cent bag fee was stupid enough. It was supposed to save the environment.
All I did was rather than line my garbage can with plastic grocery bags, I now had to buy bigger and thicker No Name garbage bags.
Net savings to the environment = Zero.
So how extensive will this new ban be? What about the plastic bags you put fruit and veggies in? What about the plastic bags bread comes in? What if you go to The Bay to buy socks and underwear? Council says to stuff those in your pockets. And I guess I'll just carry my Sub home in my hands.
I suspect CUPE will like this, though, as we now have to hire all sorts of union Bag Police to enforce this.
Luckily, I was able to jump into the future to see what this will look like next year.
See what your Extremely Green Future looks like. Good luck.......

Hopeless
This place has been going out of business for two years (almost since I moved across the street).
No wonder they couldn't stay in business, if it takes them two years just to go out of business.
They can't do anything right.
I get it, this must be a government run operation. Now it makes sense......

Too Lazy To Work
There, I said it!
Sign seen not too far from my place last week.
All she's missing is the cute, little (starving) dog.
Sheesh.....

Succulent, Indeed!
Went on a walking tour of Downtown TO.
One of the stops was Allan Gardens. A horticultural garden in what would be graciously described as a "high priority" neighbourhood.
Hence no one in their right mind goes there without police escort (although surprisingly enough many leave the area with a police escort) or large group of old people.
We did the latter yesterday.
Tucked in the back, down a few long hallways, was a desert themed area.
An amazing variety of cacti and other succulents. Scroll back up to see some.
This looks like some sea anemones out of the depths of the ocean.
With Mom lurking in the distance.
Couldn't believe how many different varieties there were.
And this was only a sampling of them all.
Okay, too many to make comments about them all.
You're welcome....
And we ended the day on a little patio in the Gaybourhood.
It was also advertized as being quite succulent.
Not that's there's anything........

All shapes and sizes. Some even looking quite rude. According to some of our Tilley hatted crowd anyway....
