In our battle against the Corona-virus, we are pinning a lot of our hopes on one strategy;
Social Distancing
We are hoping this will flatten the curve. But will it?
Is it?
Well, if we look at some provincial data, cumulative cases per million population, the answer is - not yet! The chart below shows three provinces; Quebec (poor old Quebec - off the charts!), Ontario and Alberta.
Ontario and Alberta are still on the upward trajectory - I won't use the word exponential increase. Although I think I certainly would be justified if I did.
[As always, click the graphs to zoom in.]
So why am I showing this?
Well, one province was a early adapter of social distancing practices.
British Columbia.
So lets add B.C. to the above graph and see what that gives us;
The orange B.C. line has an interesting shape.
It's still early, but their graph looks to be turning the corner a little. Whereas Alberta and Ontario's line, beside it, just keep on heading up.
I don't say this very often, but way to go, you flakeheads out in La La Land!
Okay, so let's see if today's stats show any indication that social distancing is working.
Ouch. No.
With almost a thousand new cases in, yup you guessed it, Quebec.
Although no new cases reported in B.C. Hmmmm.....
And now a look at the ghoul pool, as they used to call the betting on the annual number of murders in Detroit back in the 70's.....
Still sizable increases, with deaths split almost evenly between Ontario and Quebec (and none in BC).
So keep on....doing nothing.
I want leave you with some comforting words from the British government, courtesy of the BBC....
Cheers, mates.
