COVID Tragedies

On The Plus Side

So let's see if three is any other good news, looking at new COVID cases in Canada.

[As always, click on any graph to zoom in.]

Well, at least that's not  bad news. New cases have been flat (stuck?) at just over 1,000 per day for over a week.  Essentially split 2:1 in Quebec & Ontario.

Let's look at Ontario.

I've added an arrow highlighting the past week.  And that arrow looks to be going in the wrong direction.

"Who won't do the social distancing?!"

It's always somebody's else's responsibility.  When asked, it's always "Oh, I get together with my family - but we're always very careful."  This is when they give you the old, evil stink eye.  Mind your own business.

Looking at deaths.

Again, deaths split 2:1 in Quebec & Ontario.  In fact, virtually no deaths anywhere else in Canada for the past several days.

What, are there no old people in the other eight provinces?  Did they put them all on buses and send them here? What the hey is going on?

Ontario had 340 new cases yesterday.  Over 200 were in the GTA (the GTA has almost half of Ontario's population), but 44 were from Hamilton, population 580,000.  Where they had to clear out the entire Rosslyn retirement residence because so many people got infected.

And Quebec?  Quebec had another 750 cases.  Even all of New York State, with a population of 20 million, only had 1,700. And deaths?  Quebec had 79 and all of New York State 191.

I would like to end on a positive note, but that's just not possible.
