I Did Not Know That

Continuing with the colourization theme, this is Col T.E. Lawrence.

Lawrence of Arabia.

The real guy.

He died in 1935.  Looks like this could have been taken yesterday.

But they did a pretty good job of casting Peter O'Toole to play him in the movie.

Along with Omar Sharif and Anthony Quinn.

But I always thought the movie Lawrence of Arabia was about some swashbuckling Englishman dressed up as a Arab guy and all his antics in the middle east. Sort of an early day James Bond.

I didn't know he was a real guy.

But maybe he was an early James Bond. He was a colonel and a demolition expert in alliance with Arab rebels in WWI. Responsible for the destruction of bridges and fuel depots of the Ottoman Empire. 

He is credited with blowing up 79 bridges.

Who knew....
