How Times Have Changed

A few months ago, we didn't want Americans crossing the border into Canada due to high Covid case counts.

And now......

....they probably don't want us!  [Click to enlarge.]

Some comments:

  • What the blank is going on in Manitoba and Alberta?  And Alabama, I guess.
  • At least Ontario has fallen back into the pack the last while. In fact, almost in a dead heat with Florida.
  • Those large red/orange areas in the US charts are around November through January.  When things were out of control for them.  They were experiencing ~3,000 deaths per day!
  • Canada has never approached those levels, but the Yanks rates have now dropped substantially.
  • The fall foreheads speculate that's due to higher vaccination rates and the fact they are actually allowed outside.

[Thanks to an alert young reader for supplying this information.]

And in case you feel like Covid has left you with some brain fog, you're not alone...

Steady As She Goes....

So with about a week's more data - the red line in the chart below - the downward trend in Ontario's Covid case counts continues. [Click to enlarge.]

Could there be light at the end of the tunnel?

Or at least a patio....?

Or at least maybe we can get back to joking around a bit.

"He's Baaaaaaack"

 Okay, humour me.

It's not like you have anything else to do, being under province-wide lockdown and everything.

Here is Ontario's Covid-19 case counts for the last few months. [Click to zoom in.]

Trending in the right direction, for sure.

But when can we release the hounds?

Or, more importantly, the duffers?

Less than 2,000 cases per day? 1,000? ICU beds almost empty?

In the meantime, do as you're told!

What Next?

There have always been lots of alligators in Florida.

Here one is snacking on a bull shark.

Then the Burmese Pythons got loose.  And they have no natural enemies, except maybe for those gators.

Although those fights don't always come out the in gator's favour.  See above.

But now we have to worry about something else.

The Pine Rockland Trapdoor Spider.  And if you live in the country, you don't want to know why it is called a Trapdoor spider.

These are over two feet long.

Okay, two inches.   But tell me you wouldn't be running to your Chevy Suburban if one of these was crawling your way.

Meh, I wouldn't worry about it.

Oh, and yesterday now this......

Boy, what could possibly go wrong here.......
