Feel The Bern - And Miss The Irony

Bernie Sanders has a new book out.

"It's Okay To Be Angry About Capitalism"

In it, he rails against unfettered capitalism, that he calls uber-capitalism.

He takes aim at many large corporations, but saves his biggest bullets for Amazon.  And founder Jeff Bezos.

He blames Amazon "for exhibiting unlimited greed and abusing its wealth and power to tear our society apart".

Strong stuff.  The book, understandably, is getting mixed reviews.

Oh, and where can you get a copy of Bernie's book?

On Amazon, of course.  No hypocrisy there.....

He's what called a "Champagne Socialist".

It Was Only A Metter Of Time

I like the Evading Arrest Obstacle Course in which Florida Men jump over fences and through yards while being chased by real police officers.

Yeeha, good buddy.

And, of course, "gator possessing", whatever that is....like a pet?

How Far Is It To Flee Gaza?

I believe the Israelis gave the Gazans, or more specifically residents of Gaza City, 24 hours to flee south.

That doesn't sound like much time to flee from one end of the country to the other.

Two, three days?

But how big is the Gaza Strip anyway?

Well, here's a map of Toronto.

From the northeast corner of Scarborough to the southwest end of Etobicoke it's 36 km's.

Here is the same map with the Gaza Strip superimposed on top.

Holy cow.  It is one kilometre longer, top to bottom, than Toronto.   37 km's.

So for fleeing, I guess if you actually had a car, it could take about half an hour.

In Toronto, at rush hour - which is every hour - it would take about an hour and a half.. And that's avoiding the 401.

Of course we rarely have to worry about getting shelled, shot or hitting a landmine.

I think I'd choose the Toronto commute... 😐

Who Is Not The Professional Ball Player On This Broadcast Crew?

Pure Evil

I don't often get political, but this sign was hung from Toronto's Gardener Expressway yesterday.

It was hung by a pro Palestinian group in Toronto "celebrating the resistance and the next level accomplishments".  I think everybody knows the recent  "accomplishments" to which they are referring.

They are even holding a rally at Toronto's City Hall on Thanksgiving Monday.

According to their website, they are celebrating taking dozens of Israeli soldiers and civilians hostage, among other things.

Wow.

Jewish groups in Toronto are understandably nervous.

Even more shocking I think is this post from the city of Hamilton's McMaster University Teacher's Union. Which represents over 3,000 academic workers there

How'd you like to be a Jewish kid going to that university.

Now, there has been "unrest in the Middle East" since I was a boy and a lot of terrible things done by both sides.

But to celebrate the deaths of  hundreds of civilians as accomplishments?

Wow.

Toronto police say they are monitoring these events "with deep concern".

Think I will be staying inside tomorrow....

Post Script:  events are escalating quickly and terrifyingly.

Pure Joy

This is what sports should be about.

This kid, Anderson, scored the game winning touchdown with 15 seconds left to lift underdog Oklahoma to a huge upset win over Texas.

Those are not cheerleaders just going through one of their scripted routines.
