A Day That Will Live In Maple Leaf Infamy

34 years ago today the Toronto Maple Leafs traded Tom Kurvers to the Vancouver Canucks.

That in itself doesn't seem particularly memorable, but it was the culmination of a horrible deal the Leafs made three years earlier when they traded their first round pick in 1989 to the New Jersey Devils for Kurvers, who turned out to be a complete bust (I'm sure he was a nice guy).

At one point the Leafs are doing so poorly that season that their first round pick could have been the #1 pick overall - landing the Devils Eric Lindros.

They even failed to do a complete tank job right and instead gave up the #3 overall pick. This was even worse, as the Devils selected future Hall of Famer Scott Niedermayer!

Don't just believe me.....
