These two scumbags were convicted on all counts by a Minnesota jury.....in less than a week.
Way to go Minnesota jury!
This is the unsuspecting family that was led to its death on that freezing winter night. When the US border patrol finally found them, the boy was cradled in his father's arms.
The US prosecution said the two scumbags were part of an international smuggling ring they had been following for several years. Flying back and forth between Toronto, Vancouver & Winnipeg and driving between Minnesota & Chicago.
What took so long...?
The last line of the article said it all: "The RCMP have not made any arrests in Canada."

Are any of the perpetrators in Canada...for the RCMP to make arrests...or are they all US citizens?
I think the case is very murky. The family was found dead in Canada but they arrested the driver on the US side of the border.
But this smuggling group had been on the international radar for several years. Apparently, another member of the group, who did not get caught that night, was living outside of Toronto.
As the CBC article stated: RCMP would not say why an accused human smuggler, who Indian police say was one of the last people to see the Patel family alive, was living freely in Canada.
So nobody came out looking too good for this to have gone on for some long.
