So in case you missed it - I wish I had - the Superbowl halftime show featured Kendrick Lamar, a US rapper who apparently is climbing up the charts.
In fact he just won four Grammys, including Song of the Year, called Not Like Us.
I guess I'm not up on what passes for good music these days. But as a public service, here are the lyrics to the Song of the Year because it was kind of hard to make out during the halftime show. Although I'm sure that people that know his work loved it.
And I'm sure many parents will want to print it for their children as well.
This is also a diss track, calling out his long time nemesis Drake (see the <-- in the lyrics), accusing him of being a pedophile. It's now starting to make sense why a lot of these rappers shoot each other dead so often.
And Kid Rock had an interesting take on it that the NFL is all in on DEI. Well, with an all Black ensemble, there was zero diversity and zero inclusion. Kid Rock loved Lamar giving a big middle finger to the NFL - and not even caring about it.
But I gotta wonder if kids will be singing this song, say, 50 years from now.
As a test, let's take a look back at other Songs of the Year from about 50 years ago or so.
I don't know, maybe it's a toss up between the two eras.
Although maybe the real reason I'm not grooving to the new tunes can be summed up in two words:
Okay, Boomer......

WTF!!! unbelievable they would let him perform this, considering how uptight the NFL is
Agree. Although I doubt many people could even make out what he was saying/singing. And anyone who did know the lyrics probably thought they were cool.
