From The "Why Didn't I Think Of That" File - Part Deux
I guess chocolate manufacturers must have been thinking, "How can we sell more candy?"
"Make it like a vitamin! That it is actually good for you!"
I think this must have have been how Arm & Hammer increased their sales a long time ago.
They probably sat around brainstorming, "How can we sell more baking soda? A tablespoon here and there in your muffins isn't doing it for us."
So somebody must have said, "Why don't we get them to open a box and put it in the fridge. And just leave it there!"
"Ha ha, hilarious!"
"Oh oh oh, here's another one - open a whole box. And then throw it down the sink!!"
"Unbelievable! You're a genius!"
Or something close to that........
[Post Script: Coincidentally, in today's paper, an actual article about what chocolate manufacturers are trying to do as people turn away from chocolate to healthier options. I suggest they go to Shoppers Drugmart and check out what Jamieson has already done!]

From The "Why Didn't I Think Of That" File
How often have you been getting your hair cut and thought "Man, I wish I was underground!"
It seems so obvious now.

Read The Fine Print
Or at least look up.
In the 1930's, when this neighbourhood was being developed, they buried a pesky creek - Ames Creek - as it had been giving the developers problems.
However, as usual, Mother Nature always wins.
The buried creek, that they then built the houses on top of, weakened the foundations so much the houses are tipping into each other, as you can see by the eavestroughs overlapping and the chimneys touching!
The whole street is like that.
I'm guessing it's kind of difficult to sell a home in this neighbourhood.

About Time......
...Johnny Depp started looking like the rest of us.
[Ed. Note: Dream on.]
Of course, if we all wore eyeliner and make up all the time.....
[Ed. Note: Nope.]

Go Ovie.....?
Be kind of nice to see Alex Ovechkin - the Great 8 - finally win Lord Stanley's Cup.
But also kind of hard not to root that that band of discarded misfits from Las Vegas.
Actually - more correctly - that band of discarded misfits from Canada.
The Vegas Golden Knights have more Canucks than any other team in the NHL.
As Grapes would say "(A lot of) good Canadian boys!"
With their nationalities to prove it.
So as much a Ovie has been a long suffering superstar, kind leaning for the local boys......

Bad Day For "York"
Wow.
Last night a man was murdered in Yorkville, another was murdered at Yorkdale and police are looking for a suspect who earlier murdered a man at York University.
It is the first one that is really worrisome - because that is my neighbourhood!
And I buy all my furs at that store.
Holy jeez!

Can Just Anybody Win The Stanley Cup?
Wow.
The expansion Las Vegas Golden Knights could very well win the Stanley Cup in their first year of existence.
The Golden Knights are made up of a bunch cast offs from the other 30 NHL teams.
And speaking of those other 30 teams, I bet there are 30 General Managers who - like Lucy - might have some 'splain' to do to their owners.
Maybe I'll get a bunch of my buddies together and we'll enter a team in the NHL next year.
That would be so cool to win the Stanley Cup!!

Where Does It End?
Famed Canadian artist Emily Carr painted this in 1929 and titled it "Indian Church".
However, this week the Art Gallery
of Ontario deemed that name offensive and has decided to change it to "The
Church at Yuquot
Village".
Whoo boy.
One of the comments from the on-line article said "I find the word 'church' offensive. The name should be changed to "Small White Building at Yuquot Village".
Not to be outdone, the next comment was "I find the word 'white' offensive. The name should be changed to "Small Non-descript Building at Yuquot Village".
Hilarious!
I guess if you can't beat 'em, join 'em.

Wow!
This is an 18 year old Toronto high school student whose graduation photo has gone viral.
He is a budding make-up artist and it took him four hours to put his "face" on.
Here he is at his day job, being a high school student. And taking selfies.
If he can do this for himself, maybe there is help for the rest of us.
The rest of us mainly being me.
As I slide further into decrepitude, I gotta give this kid a call.

"Too Much Time On My Hands"
So a retirement community down here in south Florida thought they'd like to spruce up the joint a bit.
I guess they were thinking, What else have we got to do than paint the dumpster?
Just one little problem.....
In case you don't see it......
Oopsie......

Is This What's It's Come to....?
At a dockside establishment recently, The Snook Inn, when quite a commotion arose.
People starting pointing and moving towards the dock area.
Then shouts of "Oh, the pirate ship. The pirate ship!"
Then I could see this large vessel, all decked out, coming around the corner.
I couldn't quite make it out, but they were singing something.
I thought it was a pirate song I know;
"Away, away with the fife and drum.
Here we come, full of rum!
Looking for women to pat on the bum!
On the North Atlantic Squadron!"
Or;
"Yo-ho-ho and a bottle of rum!"
Then as the wind shifted, I could make out what they were actually singing;
Sweet Caroline.
Sweet Caroline?
So is this what we've come to; pirates singing Sweet Caroline? And swaying their arms back and forth?
To redeem themselves a bit, I was able to speak briefly with the pirate captain. And I asked him, Have you ever been capsized at sea?
He said, No, but I've been blown ashore.
Ba da boom!
And then off they went. Hopefully looking for women to...well, you know...
