Just Ran Into My Good Buddies, Jim, Jack & Johnny
They seem to go everywhere I am.
And my Canadian buddies, Seagrams, Club & Crown, are usually not far away either.....

Knowing Your Customer
Went to a hockey game down here in South Florida. Land of blue skies and gray hair.
The game was great with lots of excitement.
At the first period intermission, Mother Nature called.
Rather than advertising Hooters, or Bud Lite, or gator wrasslin', they were advertising....you guessed it.......
And I know it was Canada Night at the rink and all, but really.......?
Lumberjack shirts on the cheerleaders? Pretty neat, eh?
And I bet this cheer-leading squad is also going...Really, this is what we have to wear...?
This explains why there are still people who come to Canada in July with their skis.
But not all the sporting venues get a thumbs down.
Baseball, for example.....
Most places may have a "seating chart". Not in Florida!
So might as well make use of it.
Now my mother always said, never drink anything bigger than your head.
But I'll make an exception this time.
And while we're at it, why not catch a few Z's.
[A little after this pic was taken, Sleepy's boss came by and gave him Hell. Somehow the guys in the blue and white t-shirts (watching the prospects on a side field take some rips - were they scouts for another team?) slipped by him. Bossman had to kick them out himself. I have a feeling I know who he kicked out next....]
Of course after the game, time for some more of those great beers!
I don't know about the gardening accident part, but this brew was certainly bizarre.
And who in their right mind (which no longer included us at this stage) is going to be ordering a "Snowflake"? Or a "Lavender Ale" for that matter?
Although upon further inspection - which was getting progressively more difficult by the minute - the Snowflake is actually 6.9% alcohol. Not too shabby.
But time to move on. To.....
...$9 Pitchers!
Have I said lately, "I Love America!"
It's Bud Light, you say? Oh please.
Why don't we get you a couple of those nice Snowflakes instead.

I've Seen This Movie Before
I'm afraid this little guy is doomed.
And on such a beautiful, huge lot, too.
And you know what's coming....
Just like what's coming for another dead man walking, on an equally huge lot.
To also be replaced shortly - by what is directly across the street from him.
But until it gets to this stage......
.....La la la la la.......
For a little refresher on this guy see D'oh!

Whatever I'm Sellin', She Ain't Buyin'
However, if I remember correctly, I'd been buying...a lot of drinks......
[Flashback.....whatever. To a decade, long long ago...]

If - I Mean When - I Own A Bentley.....
....this is how I would be storing it.
And this is how I would be taking care of it when out.
Or like this. Of course.
Down here in Naples, not so much.
Just park on the grass on the side of the road.
Pretty sure the engine was running.
Guy probably went to get a pack of smokes. Or some Dunkin Donuts.
"Hey, babe, I got youse the KFC Value Pak."
"Baby, you know I like the Family Pak."
[Ed. note: by popular request.....]

Hot Damn, Good Buddy!
As advertized, went to the Mullet Festival & Buzzard Queen Contest on Sunday down in good old Goodland Florida. At Stan's Idle Hour Seafood Restaurant.
And let me tell you, those Americans know how to throw a Mullet Festival/Buzzard Queen Contest party.
I had both the smoked mullet and the fried mullet sandwich.
[After I got home I read that mullet is a bait fish, you don't really eat it. Unless "you" is another fish. So I guess it's all newbies in the mullet line. "First time here, buddy?" "Mmmm....mmmm."]
Now being a smart, savvy mullet loving guy, got there at noon.
Not a seat to be had in the whole dang place. Noon!
Although the roof of the bar - the brown plastic bag there - could fit in almost anywhere.
We had to drive 45 minutes through the Everglades to get here. And you all know what song from that movie was playing in my mind the whole time.
But you know this is a class joint when they have ice in the urinal trough.
Here is one of the Buzzard Queen contestants.
Trust me, this is the best angle to see all the contestants.
And you also have to believe me that I wasn't trying to get a cheap shot looking down some girl's top. I was trying to get a shot of my buddies there, on the left.
Okay, nobody's going to believe that.
But the truth is stranger than fiction!
So what a crazy place this is. Although who's the party pooper here, no standing on tables. C'mon man!
And just so I don't leave you hanging, here is the beautiful [and talented - as the contestants have to do a buzzard dance, or buzzard lope around the stage] Buzzard Lope Queen of 2018.
So all in all a very cool day, except for the mullet bones I have stuck in my throat.
But I'll know for next year!

Dan O'Connell 1949-2018
My dear friend Dan O'Connell slipped these surly bonds of earth yesterday after putting up a brave fight with both heart and kidney failure.
His larger than life presence - Big Dan - will be missed.
Here are only a few pics of other days.
Dan Holding Court At Dinner
Another Common Sight At Dinner
[That's a tequila bottle, BTW.]

And Doing What He Did Best - Chillin'
Here's to a lot of good times, ol' buddy!

So how can we do it? [Double click to find out.]

Gotta Love Old People
So a senior's condo down in Florida decided to get "with it" and create a website.
For events, articles, photos, etc.
But, as one of them knowingly told me, "Because we have photos - and this isn't our first rodeo - we've decided to have a password."
So to get the word around an email was sent.
Well, not so fast........
A nice notice with all the information was posted on the Bulletin Board.
Including the password.
At least it wasn't....password.
Hey! It's not their first rodeo.......

Not So Funny Now, Is It?
Ah ha. It only took a day to wipe those smug comments from their lips.
Welcome to my world.
[Okay, to those in the know, this is not my world. But my world will be a brisk 60 degs today. Think of the children and outdoor Happy Hour bars!]
So enjoy your cyclone snow bombazilla, or whatever they are calling it this year.
Last one in, turn off the lights.

We're #1!
Oh, the Americans like to rub it in.
But when they want bacon or Maple Syrup......
Of course, what the Washington Post headline didn't say was that although is was -20 on Mars, with the wind chill it felt like -40 in Canada.
Apples & oranges?
C'Mon man!
But they did include another cool (sorry) picture of a St. Lawrence freighter slowly navigating its way down river.
Now that's Canada!
