The Stars Align.....

....and a beautiful heritage building gets some actual restoration.

Went on another Heritage Toronto Walk (What? Do you think I just sit at home waiting for texts & photos from Vietnam?) on the University of Toronto campus entitled "Astronomy in Toronto" (now you can appreciate the extremely clever tie-in to to post's title).

University College is a beautiful example of mid 1,800's architecture.

What's it got to do with astronomy? Beats me.
Spooky....

Another old building.

But, boy, they sure knew how to make 'em.

A leafy old building.

This building was (still is, I guess) one of the earliest observatories in Canada.

It was originally located further south on campus, but as the university grew, it was in the way.

So rather than demolish it, it was disassembled, moved and reassembled stone by stone to this location.

It is now the headquarters of the student's union. How far it's fallen.

And as our guide explained, some times visiting football teams actually paint the observatory dome their school colours.

Hey - I recognize that yellow and black and the coat of arms!

My Alma mater, U of Waterloo, must be in town.
