pretty cool, although Mr. Hockey played his last season in the NHL at age 52, and he scored 15 goals and assisted on 26, also made the first all star team, then played one game with the IHL Detroit Vipers in '97-'98 when he was 69!!!

Gordie Howe story... I answered the phone one Saturday afternoon and voice on the other end said it was Gordie Howe calling. I said "BS Gordie where were you born?" "Floral, SK" he chirped. It was him. My buddy was with his brother in law when he owned the Jr. Red Wings and Gordie was a hired gun for the weekend. Mr. Hockey made my day and chit chatted for 10 minutes or so...Pretty neat guy and a true ambassador of the game. Today's pro's should take a page or two from this era. Class and respect were part of competition. Don't know if your watching this years playoffs but I am sure Mr. Hockey doesn't appreciate the goonery.

He hates goonery? Gordie's elbow never met a face it didn't like.

except the only folks who ever saw his elbows were those on the receiving end - he was that fast and adept at delivering them.
