Fore!

Per yesterday's post, yesterday was the first day golf courses in Ontario were open. Here's a quick reminder if you are too darn lazy to page back even one day....

And the courses were packed.  And it looks as though not everyone was in mid-season form, as several exchanges between golfer and caddie were overheard by the crack Arnotti Thoughts field staff;

Golfer:    "I think I'm going to drown myself in the lake.”
Caddie:    "Think you can keep your head down that long?"

Golfer:    "I'd move heaven and earth to break 100 on this course.”
Caddie:   "Try heaven, you've already moved most of the earth.”

Golfer:    "Do you think I can get there with a 5 iron?”
Caddie:   "Eventually.”

Golfer:    "You've got to be the worst caddie in the world.”
Caddie:   "I don't think so . . .That would be too much of a coincidence.”

Golfer:    "Do you think it's a sin to play on Sunday?
Caddie:   "The way you play, it's a sin everyday.”

Golfer:    "How do you like my game?”
Caddie:    "It's very good - personally, I prefer golf.”

Golfer:    "This is the worst course I've ever played on.”
Caddie:   "This isn't the golf course. We left that an hour ago.”

And finally,,,,,,

Golfer:    "That can't be my ball, it's too old.”
Caddie:   "It's been a long time since we teed off, sir.”

Okay, enough of that.  On to yesterday's COVID stats, starting with new cases.

Over the last two weeks the trend line has certainly come down, but looks to have plateaued.

One reason could be increased testing in Canada.  The good news would be that the % Positive results has been continuously dropping for over a month.

Although in Ontario the increased testing has been concentrated on long term care home residents and staff, elsewhere it has moved into the broader community.  So probably a lower % Positive result is not unexpected.

Another view of testing and new cases.

Deaths from yesterday.

If you ignore a couple of very high days recently, the trend does look to be coming down.  But with Quebec continuing to rack up heartbreaking numbers.

So let's head back outside.....

Golfer:    "Please stop checking your watch all the time. It's too much of a distraction.”

Caddie:   "It's not a watch - it's a compass.”

Thanks. You don't know how difficult it was to come up with all those. In one day!
